Applebuds Zoo Day

Zoo Day for the Apple Buds! In case you don't know, Apple Buds is a preschool group Monica, Vanessa and I started last fall. We get together once a week and do preschool activities with our munchkins. We take turns preparing the lesson and meet at each others' homes or at the park. Last week we had our first field trip, and we went to the Folsom Zoo. This seemed like a great opportunity to introduce our little group to some friends who might be interested, so we ended up with a group of 7 preschool aged kids, and 4 babies. Unfortunately, Vanessa and her boys couldn't make it.

Eve and Sadie climbed the fence at every display so they could see the animals through one layer of fence instead of two layers. Luckily they didn't get caught by any zoo employees until we were at the last animal!

Here's Samantha checking out the foxes I think (?) Poor Samantha got sick of being in the stroller, but she's a runner so she had to stay strapped in.

This is Kathy and her daughters Amy and Rebecca. They joined Apple Buds about a month ago and we had preschool at their barn yesterday. They have a whole herd of alpacas and a pig! Maybe we should have had zoo day at their house!

This is Alta and her son Hugh. We thought they weren't going to make it but they met us at the park and ride at the last moment. We're so glad they came. Eve and Hugh are in the same class at church so she was quite excited.

Having lunch at the park. Jen and Alta had to leave early. We told the kids they could ride the train if they ate a good lunch. Not a scrap wasted.

Waiting for the train - a real steam engine.

A little on the expensive side if you ask me - $2 a kid for a 5 minute ride, but absolutely worth every penny. The kids had the thrill of a lifetime! Eve still has her ticket.
