Sunday at Grandma's

Big news on the Mavy front; Ben's sister, Vanessa, had a baby boy yesterday, and Ben's sister-in-law Kimmi, had a baby boy today! Nathan is going to have a lot of fun with those two in years to come. Yet another sister-in-law, Ruth, is due to have a boy in June. This is the year for boys, I guess.
I got to watch Ruth's 3 youngest for a day while she was in Utah. It was kind of wild having 7 kids 5 and under in the house. The kids had a blast. Liberty was so excited to have someone smaller than her to boss around. Nathan's not really old enough to pay attention when she tells him what's what. Aaron, however, is just below eye-level to Libi - the perfect height for establishing dominance. Unfortunately for Liberty, he has 3 older sisters and knows just how to deal with bossy female types. He really wanted to go outside and play while my kids were eating breakfast. Liberty knew this was not on the agenda -
* A side note. Libi is sitting next to me, and sees the pic of Aaron trying to get out. She's flipping out - "nope! a door! hurry! No!!!"
Ben recently picked up this bike for Eve at a garage sale, and gave her a lesson on Sunday. It's really too big for her to learn on, we'll have to keep our eyes open for another one that's smaller. Eve doesn't care. Daddy was already her hero, but she sure loves him buckets when he teaches her something new.

I have too many kids to pick out their clothes anymore unless we're going out somewhere. This is what a 4-year-old considers the height of fashion. I have to say, it's pretty adorable.

This is Liberty realizing that the bike is not "MINE!" She still believes if she wants it enough, that makes it hers.

And here's the boy enjoying a little sunshine and attention from Sadie during the riding lesson.

Chatter box

Eve just came to me with a puzzled look on her face and told me, "Mommy, when I talk in my head I never stop talking."
What a surprise!

Liberty's Big Day

Well, Liberty turned 2 today! What a sweet little girl she is, and how happy we are that she's in our family! Liberty certainly has her own opinion about everything. I think this is partly because she has so many food allergies and feels itchy and a little crumby most of the time. We all know what that does to our patience supply. The other night Ben moved her bed (a mattress on the floor that's supposed to slide under the bunkbeds during the day) to the other side of the kids' bedroom. The idea was that on the other side of the room, Liberty would not be wakened by Sadie, bottom-bunker, falling out of bed in the middle of the night. Liberty woke me up around 12:30. When I went to the bedroom, she was sitting on the floor by her bed, wailing, and TICKED. She let me know in no uncertain terms (with sign language and wails) that her bed belonged OVER THERE and she expected me to move it there YESTERDAY! I moved her bed and tucked her in, and by then she was sucking her thumb and quiet. I took this to mean I was forgiven, but I was sorely mistaken. I was given a curt "No" when I asked for a kiss. Thankfully, she slept off her grudge, and was her cute self in the morning. She also loves to tease, and insists that she's 4, not 2. She holds up all ten fingers to show us how old she is, and when the girls tell her she's ten, she says, "me. 10."
We had a birthday party for Libi on Monday night and she had a blast eating Hawaiin rice pizza with no sauce (poor kid) and rice cupcakes with no eggs or milk (ditto). At least she got to have frosting on her cupcake! She loved playing with the Browns and Grandma and Grandpa and Aunts Jackie and Bernie, and of course all the presents that her sisters keep trying to requisition.

Nathan is growing way too quickly. I just weighed him and he's 13 pounds, at 2 months old!

Ben gave Nathan a blessing at Church on the 1st of March. Nathan wore the same blessing outfit and cuddled in the same blanket that Ben and all 5 of his brothers were blessed in. That's a lot of Mavy boys!
We all came back to Ben's folks' house for a nice visit and food. Nathan is definitely a very loved little boy.
And this is a pretty little family of toadstools I met after the rain last week.

Ben's blog

Ben has his own blog now. It's not very pretty, but at least another Mavy is communicating. This post is a little political, that's Ben: benmavy.wordpress.com
